Understanding Psychological Coaching

What exactly is Psychological Coaching at Sublime?

Sublime’s coaching is designed to strengthen your mental foundations – much like going to the gym, but for your mind. It blends deep psychological insight with practical coaching to help you perform better, lead more consciously, and live with greater clarity. Our focus is on self-awareness, growth, and sustainable performance.

How is Psychological Coaching different from traditional therapy?

Therapy often focuses on healing mental health challenges. Sublime’s Psychological Coaching is forward-focused – it’s about building mental fitness, deepening self-awareness, and supporting high-performing individuals to show up as their best selves. It’s not about treatment – it’s about development.

How does Psychological Coaching differ from business coaching?

Business coaching often stays at the surface – goal setting, performance reviews, leadership tools. Sublime’s approach goes deeper. All our coaches are registered psychologists, meaning we help you unpack not just the what, but the why – the beliefs, values, and thought patterns that drive your behaviour. This is inner work with real-world impact.

Why it Matters

Why does my Psychological Capital matter?

Your Psychological Capital – made up of Hope, Efficacy, Resilience, and Optimism – is like the inner fuel that powers how you lead, make decisions, and respond to pressure. Research shows that high Psychological Capital is correlated to a great likelihood of success (i.e. # employees, duration of business, wellbeing).

It isn’t just about feeling good – it’s about thinking clearly under stress, bouncing back faster from setbacks, and staying committed to what matters most. At Sublime, we help you build this internal capacity so you can lead with greater intention, energy, and psychological strength.

I’m already doing well - is this for me?

Yes. Our work is ideal for entrepreneurs who want to continue growing – not just when things fall apart, but especially when things are going well. Psychological Coaching helps you maintain clarity, handle pressure, and make decisions aligned with your values.

What to Expect as a Member

What kind of topics can I bring to sessions?

Anything that sits at the intersection of work and self – from handling stress, navigating change, leadership challenges, and decision fatigue, to refining personal values or addressing internal doubts. We also work with clients who simply want regular space to reflect and recalibrate.

What’s expected of me as a Sublime Studio member?

Just curiosity and honesty. You don’t need to have all the answers – that’s what we explore together. The more you’re willing to reflect and engage openly, the more you’ll get out of it. Like physical training, mental growth takes effort – but the results are lasting.

How does the membership work?

Sublime operates on a monthly membership model. You’ll get regular coaching sessions, between-session support, and access to tools and frameworks to track your growth. There’s no lock-in contract after the first 3 months – just let us know if you decide to pause or stop.

Do I need to have a specific problem to start?

Not at all. Many of our members join because they want a consistent space to think clearly and stay grounded amid the demands of leadership. Some start with a clear challenge; others simply want to deepen their self-awareness and build mental resilience.

Taking the First Step

Do I have to be based in Melbourne?

No. Our clients are based throughout Australia and worldwide. We offer digital and in-person sessions for those based in Melbourne and digital sessions for those elsewhere. The research suggests that both channels are equally effective.

What if I’m not sure this is the right fit for me?

That’s completely normal – which is why we offer an introduction session. It’s a no-pressure way to experience the coaching first-hand, meet your psychologist, and get a feel for the approach. At the end of the day, our membership is for entrepreneurs who take their mental game as seriously as their product roadmap.

I’m already busy - will this add more to my plate?

Think of coaching as creating space, not adding pressure. One of the biggest benefits our members report is learning how to slow down, think clearly, and act with intention. Investing an hour every couple of weeks can actually save you time and energy over the long run.

I’ve done coaching or therapy before - how is this different?

We bridge the gap between traditional therapy and business coaching. Our approach is grounded in psychology, delivered by qualified professionals, and designed specifically for ambitious people navigating complex decisions and environments. It’s deep work, tailored for people who want more than surface-level advice.

Practicalities & Options

Do you work with teams or just individuals?

Our primary offering is one-on-one psychological coaching, but we also work with co-founders and leadership teams where alignment and trust are essential. Whether it’s boosting psychological safety or strengthening communication, our approach is tailored and grounded in research.

Can sessions be held online?

Yes. Many of our clients prefer remote sessions due to time or location constraints. If you’re in Melbourne, we also offer in-person sessions.

Is Sublime’s coaching backed by science?

Absolutely. Our approach draws from evidence-based models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and performance psychology. All coaches are qualified psychologists who understand both human complexity and the entrepreneurial experience.

Membership & Payments

How much does the membership cost?

The Sublime Studio psychological coaching membership is $600 AUD per month (+GST). This includes an in-depth mental fitness assessment, regular one-on-one sessions with a registered psychologist, access to tools and resources, and support between sessions.

Is there a minimum commitment?

Yes – there’s a minimum commitment of 3 months. We believe meaningful psychological change takes time, and this window allows enough space to gain momentum and see results.

What if I want to stop my membership?

After 3 months, you can cancel or pause your membership at any time during a given month, and it will finish at the end of that month. We don’t lock you in long-term – just a three-month minimum to start. After that, you’re in control.

Is this covered by Medicare or insurance?

Sublime Studio’s membership is not covered under Medicare as it is a performance-focused psychological coaching service rather than clinical treatment. Check with your private health care provider if they will cover the membership fee.  Note that many of our clients choose to invest personally (which is tax deductable) or through their business as a professional development expense.

Is it worth the investment?

If you’re someone who regularly invests in your business, your team, or your physical health – this is the equivalent investment in your mind. Members often tell us that coaching has helped them make clearer decisions, avoid burnout, and lead more effectively. In that sense, the returns go far beyond the session itself.
